The Pickle | Organic British Vegetarian Restaurant

Honest, home-cooked, organic food that celebrates the best of the British seasons.

We don’t believe in shortcuts. At The Pickle, every potato is peeled by hand, every sauce is simmered on the stove, and every ingredient is sourced from small-scale organic farms. Experience a British vegetarian restaurant where 'homemade' is the only way we know.

A Truly British Vegetarian Menu

Forget what you know about bland veggie options. We take classic British comfort food and give it an organic, scratch-made soul.

Authentic Sunday Roasts
Our Sunday Roast isn't an afterthought. We serve slow-roasted root vegetables, fluffy Yorkshire puddings made with organic eggs, and a rich, red wine gravy that takes 12 hours to reduce. It's the hearty weekend staple you’ve missed.
Handmade Savoury Pies
Our vegetable pies use buttery, melt-in-the-mouth shortcrust pastry made every morning. Inside, you’ll find seasonal fillings like wild mushrooms or leeks and West Country cheddar, served with hand-mashed Maris Piper potatoes.
Seasonal Harvest Bowls
We celebrate the Great British allotment. From spring peas to winter squash, our menus shift with the weather. Because we only use local, organic produce, the food on your plate was likely still in the ground two days ago.
Traditional Puddings
End your meal with nostalgia. Think rhubarb crumble with thick organic custard or a dark chocolate torte made with fair-trade cocoa. No frozen shortcuts, just real butter, cream, and sugar used exactly as they should be.

    The No-Freezer Philosophy

Real Food from a Real Kitchen

The Freezer is for ice cream, not your dinner. At The Pickle, we’ve banned the microwave and the deep-freeze. When we say home-cooked, we mean we actually start with whole vegetables and sacks of flour. You can taste the difference in our heritage carrots—roasted with honey and thyme—and our bread, which is kneaded and baked in our kitchen every single morning at 6:00 AM. We choose organic because it’s better for the soil and better for your plate. There are no pesticides in our kitchens, just real food grown by people we know by name. Whether you’re a lifelong vegetarian or just someone who appreciates a meal made with care, you’ll find a seat at our table. It’s simple, honest cooking that doesn’t try to be anything other than delicious. It’s the kind of food your grandmother would have made, provided she had a passion for local, organic farming.

    Common Questions

What are the opening hours for the Restaurant?+
We are open Wednesday through Sunday. Lunch is served 12:00–15:00, and dinner from 17:30–22:00. On Sundays, we serve a traditional roast menu all day until 19:00.
Do you cater to vegan or gluten-free diets?+
Absolutely. Everything we serve is made from scratch, so we know exactly what goes into every dish. Just let your server know about your requirements when you arrive.
Do I need to book a table in advance?+
Yes, we highly recommend it, especially for dinner and Sunday lunch. We are a cozy space and our tables tend to fill up quickly with our regulars.
Is the menu suitable for non-vegetarians?+
Not at all. While we are a vegetarian kitchen, we find that many of our guests are meat-eaters who simply appreciate high-quality, organic, home-cooked British food.
